JONAPWD is an umbrella organization of persons with disability established in Nigeria to promote the rights and development of Nigerians with disabilities. The organization was established in 1992, to represent the interests of the teeming population of persons with disabilities at the local and international level. JONAPWD is a full-fledged member of the International body called Disabled People’s International (DPI). It serves as a link between Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Nigeria and the international community. JONAPWD is currently composed of six disabled groups which are the Blind, the physically disabled, the deaf, the intellectually impaired, those with spinal cord injuries, and leprosy victims.

2022 International Day of Persons with Disabilities
On the International Day Of Persons With Disabilities, which fell on Saturday, the 3rd of December 2022, the Joint National Association Of Persons With Disabilities in collaboration with The Centre For Ability Rehabilitation And Empowerment, hosted a live hybrid simulcast meeting on AIT, with the theme: Transformative solutions for Inclusive Development: The Role of Innovation in Fueling an Accessible and Equitable World. Invited Guests were Presidential and other aspiring Candidates of all political political parties, Development Partners, Government Agencies, Disabled People Organizations and Corporate Bodies. This event was also supported by the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON), Africa Independent Television, and ASO Television.
